Yahoo should add a comments section on the home page, so the public can comment on how rediculous our media is and how they are really insulting the intelligence of america. There are many other important issue to discuss then Britnay and middle names of presidential candidates.
Why no comments section for the media on the home page?
Considering Yahoo shuttered the last version of comments on news articles because it had degenerated to an open sewer, you might argue that the comments themselves were an insult to one's intelligence.
A more useful strategy would be to email or call the newspapers, TV stations or wire services that are producing the offending stories. They'll get the message if people really start complaining.
Why no comments section for the media on the home page?
Yahoo! used to have a comments section for every news story. They were awersome, because you could could write comments like "who the hell cares about Brad Pitt--we just invaded Iraq!!!", etc. and could argue back and forth with other people. It was vibrant, popular and very entertaining. There are conflicting explanations as to why they suddenly removed them. The official Yahoo! explanation was they were retooling their boards and that they willl be back (this was about 2 years ago). Another very unconvincing explanation is that some lawyer tried to sue Yahoo! (with all its' billions) because he was offended by the comments--uh yeah. The best reason I can come up with is that Yahoo! just wanted to censor this very real, sometimes raw, sometimes rude part of it's domain. And this is probably because a valuable sponsor complained too much about the content. Yahoo! has an ugly record of cooperating with censors in other countries, for instance China, where Yahoo! helped the gov't put pro-democracy bloggers in prison. My homepage was Yahoo, until they removed the comments, now it is Google. I hope you are enjoying a less offensive Yahoo!.
