Her comments.?

Last year, I brought in St. Patrick's Day cookies and cakes from the supermarket on St. Paddy's Day.They were nice.

So, I invited my office co-workers to eat and celebrate St. Paddy's Day. Most people liked it except for Mary.

Mary said in a very hostile voice " Why should we celebrate St. Patrick's Day?"

Mary is of Japanese descent.

What would you make of Mary's comments?

Her comments and tone of voice was so hostile, pointed and sharp that I am hesitating to bring in goodies on Monday, St. Paddy's Day.

Her comments.?

Don't hesitate to bring things in because of one woman. Just bring them in, let people know that the goodies are there and let it be. if this woman makes sharp comments again, just pointedly say to her" I brought goodies in because I thought people would enjoy them. You don't have to eat them." and leave it at that.

This woman could just be a difficult person and doesn't enjoy anything. Don't let her ruin your doing something nice for everyone else.

Her comments.?

small stuff. it is a gesture on your part, she doesn't have to have any....or participate....her attitude is petty....bring in some green sushi....if you feel like it....

Her comments.?

Maybe its because of her asian decent? you said pointed and sharp? lol, like mr. foo..

Anyways, you said that everyone liked it, so who is Mary to worry about, dont let her kill the excitement just because she said something that sounds not right to you.

Her comments.?

Why don't you ask Mary? There could be a million reasons why she said it -- she may think of St. Patrick's as a Catholic holiday, she may have something against St. Patrick's history, or she may have just been having a bad day. Instead of foregoing a treat that you and your co-workers enjoy, why not say, "Hey, Mary, can I ask your opinion? I'm thinking of bringing some cookies in Monday for St. Patrick's Day, but something you said last year made me wonder. Do you think some would take offense to these treats?" I'm really curious about how she would respond!

Her comments.?

I just tell people it is just good clean fun, If asked I explain St. Patrick, and let them know who he was, and how according to legend he helped the Irish people, and let people know there are MORE people of Irish decent in the US than in Ireland.

ERIN GO BRAGH!!!!!!!

Her comments.?

Keep doing what you are doing and make it fun for people. I once worked with a woman who despised anything having to do with families/people getting together and celebrating (Christmas, Thanksgiving, you name it). She did not have a close family or any kids and she would always comment negatively when we decorated the office for Christmas. Let her be a grinch and you keep having fun.

Her comments.?

Who cares what Mary has to say? Maybe she doesn't care for or understand the holiday, and that's her business. Bring in whatever you like, don't mind what she has to say, you don't have to stop celebrating with your other colleagues because of her.

Her comments.?

Its everyone in the office against one (the one which is mary) i think the rest of the office out votes her.

I mean seriously, its just cookies. if she doesnt want one and wants to be a royal butt head, let her.

Her comments.?

Well she still attended your party and ate your food. Her comments were very rude, but you can't change those jerks in the world.
